Orestes School Deconstruction

When Red Gold Inc. expanded its footprint in Central Indiana, the former Orestes Elementary School was slated for demolition. By focusing on salvage opportunities, Klenck Company was able to meet the budget requirements of the owner. During demolition, the school’s 10” tall baseboards, hardwood doors, and the laminated gymnasium skeleton trusses were rescued and repurposed. In order to utilize local subcontractors, Klenck Company utilized Doc Keyes, owner of Doc’s Architectural Salvage to remove the valuable finishes and local crane and trucking services to pick and remove the gym trusses. Once the building contents were salvaged, structural demolition was completed and the site was backfilled with topsoil to improve the land.
